Terms of Service

The rules for using SkillKnex, including your account, the content you publish, the community, and the limits of what we provide.

1. Who we are

SkillKnex is a short-form micro-learning platform where people watch lessons, commit to real-world actions ("I Did This"), build streaks, share Action Proofs, and discover AI prompts. It is operated by SkillKnex Ltd ("SkillKnex", "we", "us", "our"). SkillKnex Ltd is being incorporated in England and Wales. Before these Terms are published as final, we will add the Companies House number and registered office address ([registered office address: to confirm]).

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and SkillKnex Ltd. They apply to the SkillKnex mobile app and the website at skillknex.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

These Terms incorporate, and should be read with, the following, which form part of your agreement with us:

2. Eligibility and age

You must be at least 13 years old to use SkillKnex. By creating an account you confirm that you are 13 or older.

If you are under 18, you should use SkillKnex with the involvement of a parent or guardian. We may ask for age information or apply age-assurance checks where needed to protect younger users and meet legal duties.

SkillKnex is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow them to register. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we will close it and delete their personal data. We may suspend or remove accounts where we reasonably believe the user does not meet the age requirement.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information, including a valid email address, and keep it up to date.
  • Accounts are personal to you. Do not share, sell, or transfer your account or credentials.
  • Tell us promptly at support@skillknex.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • We may suspend, restrict, or close accounts that breach these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law (see Section 14).

4. Your licence to use SkillKnex

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial learning and participation, in line with these Terms. This includes:

  • viewing lessons and other content in the app and on the website;
  • saving, liking, commenting on, and sharing lessons and prompts;
  • committing to actions ("I Did This") and publishing Action Proofs;
  • creating and sharing AI prompts in the Prompt Lab;
  • earning and spending SKX and XP within the Service, subject to the Virtual Currency Terms; and
  • exporting your personal data and deleting your account.

All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by SkillKnex and its licensors.

5. Things you must not do

You agree not to, and not to allow anyone else to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable law or regulation;
  • post, upload, or share content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, sexually explicit, violent, dangerous, deceptive, or otherwise breaches our Community Guidelines;
  • create, upload, share, or solicit any material that sexually exploits or endangers a child. See Section 7;
  • use a lesson, prompt, or Action Proof primarily to advertise, promote, or sell a specific product, project, service, token, investment, or item (see Section 6);
  • impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation, qualifications, or identity;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
  • manipulate engagement or rewards, including fake "I Did This" actions, bot activity, multiple accounts, or any scheme to obtain SKX, XP, badges, or rankings you have not genuinely earned;
  • use bots, scrapers, or automated means to access, copy, or extract content or data from the Service;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure; or
  • resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without our prior written permission.

6. Educational standard and no product promotion

SkillKnex is an educational platform. Lessons and prompts must teach a genuine, general skill or idea that a learner can act on in the real world.

Lessons must not be advertising. You must not use a lesson, prompt, or Action Proof to promote, endorse, link to, or solicit the purchase of any specific product, project, service, brand, token, investment, or item. General educational content that happens to mention a category of tools is fine; content whose purpose is to drive purchases or sign-ups for a particular thing is not.

Where content is sponsored or you have a commercial relationship connected to it, you must disclose this using the in-app disclosure controls before publishing. Undisclosed commercial content may be removed.

7. Child safety (zero tolerance)

SkillKnex has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation ("CSAE"). You must never use the Service to create, upload, share, distribute, request, or facilitate any content that sexually exploits or abuses a minor, including child sexual abuse material ("CSAM"), or to groom, endanger, or solicit a child.

We remove such content immediately, permanently ban the accounts involved without notice, preserve relevant evidence, and report to appropriate authorities or reporting bodies where required or appropriate, including the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), law enforcement, and any legally required regional reporting body.

8. Content you create and the licence you give us

You keep ownership of the content you create on SkillKnex, including your comments, prompts, Action Proofs, and (for creators) lessons ("Your Content"). You are responsible for Your Content and the consequences of sharing it.

By submitting Your Content, you grant SkillKnex a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, to generate transcripts, captions, and thumbnails or to re-encode media), publish, display, distribute, and promote Your Content in connection with operating, improving, and marketing the Service. When you delete or remove Your Content, we stop displaying it in line with the product controls and our content lifecycle rules. We may still keep backups, audit records, safety records, and copies already needed for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.

You confirm that Your Content is your own or that you have all rights needed to share it and to grant the licence above, and that it does not breach these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or anyone's rights.

We may remove, restrict, or refuse Your Content at any time if we reasonably believe it breaches these Terms, our policies, or the law. If you publish lessons or prompts as a creator, the Creator Agreement also applies.

9. Action Proofs

An Action Proof is content you share to show that you took a real-world action after a lesson. Action Proofs are private by default. They become publicly visible only after you give explicit consent in the app.

  • You must have the right to share anything in your Action Proof, including any people, locations, logos, music, or media shown.
  • Do not include other people's personal information, or images of identifiable people (especially children), without their consent.
  • If your Action Proof is sponsored or commercial, you must use the in-app commercial-disclosure controls.
  • If your Action Proof contains AI-generated or materially edited media, you must disclose that using the in-app controls.

Rewards that may be associated with Action Proofs are governed by the Virtual Currency Terms. We may review, hold, decline, or reverse rewards, and remove Action Proofs, in line with those terms and our policies.

10. "I Did This" and real-world actions

SkillKnex encourages you to act on what you learn. Any action you take in the real world is your own decision and your own responsibility.

You are solely responsible for assessing whether an action is safe, lawful, and suitable for you. SkillKnex is not liable for the outcomes of actions you choose to take. Content on SkillKnex is educational only and is not professional advice. See the Educational & Professional-Advice Disclaimer.

11. AI prompts and AI features

The Prompt Lab is a place to discover and share AI prompts. SkillKnex does not run third-party AI models for you; when you copy a prompt into an external tool (for example ChatGPT, Claude, or an image generator), you are responsible for complying with that tool's terms.

We also use AI in parts of the Service (for example to help interpret search queries). AI-generated or AI-assisted output may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on it without checking. Outputs you create using prompts belong to you, subject to the relevant AI tool's terms. We make no warranty about the accuracy, safety, or results of any prompt.

12. SKX and XP

SKX and XP are virtual items inside SkillKnex. They have no monetary value, are not money, e-money, securities, or crypto-assets, cannot be bought with or exchanged for cash, and exist only within the Service. Full terms, including how they are earned, spent, adjusted, and forfeited, are in the Virtual Currency Terms.

13. Our intellectual property

The Service, including the SkillKnex app and website, the SkillKnex name and logo, the "I Did This" mechanic, our design, software, and any content we create or curate, is owned by SkillKnex Ltd or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Except for the limited licence in Section 4, you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our content or branding without our prior written permission.

14. Reporting, moderation, and enforcement

You can report content or users with the in-app report tools, and you can block other users from their profile. We aim to review reports within 48 hours.

We act on illegal content and serious safety risks in line with applicable law, including the UK Online Safety Act 2023 where it applies, and we cooperate with law enforcement where required.

How we enforce

Depending on the seriousness and history of a breach, we may remove or restrict content, issue a warning, limit features, suspend an account, or permanently ban an account. Content removals are tiered: some are recoverable, while serious or repeat breaches are not.

We will give you notice and a reason where we reasonably can, except where we are legally prevented, where notice would create a safety or security risk, or in clear cases of severe abuse such as CSAE.

Appeals

If you believe we made a mistake, you can appeal by emailing support@skillknex.com with the subject "Content Appeal - [your username]". We aim to respond within 5 business days.

15. Account deletion and retention

You can delete your account in the app (Settings / Account / Delete Account). Deletion is scheduled with a 30-day grace period during which you can restore your account by signing back in; after that, deletion is permanent.

On permanent deletion we remove or anonymise your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy. Some records are kept in anonymised or pseudonymised form where we are required to, or have a legitimate need to, for example fraud prevention, reward-ledger integrity, safety, and legal compliance.

16. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that content is accurate or fit for any particular purpose.

17. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything that cannot be limited or excluded under the laws of England and Wales. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, data, or goodwill; and our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service will not exceed £100 or the amount (if any) you paid us in the 3 months before the claim, whichever is greater.

18. Your responsibility for your content

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for, and agree to cover, losses or claims that we reasonably incur arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms or the law, for example a third-party claim that Your Content infringes their rights. This does not apply to the extent the loss results from our own breach or negligence.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a significant change, we will give reasonable notice (for example by in-app notice or email) before it takes effect. If you continue to use the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and may delete your account.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any dispute connected with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence, and you may be able to bring proceedings there.
